This is designed for Listening and Speaking and is good for Junior High and Senior High.

This is a warm up activity that can be used to review grammar and vocabulary. This should work well in Junior and Senior High.

Materials Needed[]

A list of warm-up/ice-breaker questions to ask (see Resources). You may want to prepare flashcards for certain classes.

Junior High School: JHS first year, JHS second year, jhs third year.

All students stand up. Teacher asks a question. Students raise their hand to answer. When the correct answer is given, the student can choose either their row or their column to sit down.

The game ends when everyone (or enough) people are sitting down.

Variant[]

When a line is told to sit down, those standing sit down, but those already seated stand up.
